The use of QualityTEC® Thermoelectric Modules frequently provides an excellent solution, and in some cases the only solution, to a variety of difficult thermal applications. Although no technology is ideal in all respects and thermoelectric modules will not be the solution for every application, QualityTEC® Thermoelectric Modules usually provide significant advantages over alternative technologies. Some of these advantages include: Cools Below Ambient: Unlike a heat sink whose temperature rises above ambient, a QualityTEC® Thermoelectric Module has the ability to reduce temperature well below ambient. Electrically and Acoustically "Quiet": Unlike a mechanical refrigeration system, due to their all solid state construction, QualityTEC® Thermoelectric Modules generate virtually no electrical or acoustical noise and can be used in conjunction with sensitive electronic components. Heat and Cool With Same Module: QualityTEC® Thermoelectric Modules will either heat or cool depending upon the polarity of the applied DC power. High Reliability: QualityTEC® Thermoelectric Modules have extremely high reliability as a result of their solid state design. Although reliability is application dependent, the typical life of a QualityTEC® Thermoelectric Module is greater than 200,000 hours. No Moving Parts: A QualityTEC® Thermoelectric Module is a solid state electronic device so they are virtually maintenance free. Orientation Independant: QualityTEC® Thermoelectric Modules can be used in any orientation and in zero gravity environments. As a result, they are utilized in numerous military and aerospace applications. Precision Temperature Control: In a closed-loop temperature control circuit configuration, QualityTEC® Thermoelectric Modules can control temperatures to better than +/- 0.1°C. Small Size and Weight: QualityTEC® Thermoelectric Modules are much smaller and lighter than comparable mechanical systems. A wide variety of configurations are available to satisfy virtually any application.
